Essentials for healthy looking lawns
Aerating your lawn is one of the things you need to do to have a healthy, growing lawn. Core aeration is needed due to thatch buildup and soil compaction, two problems that can be caused by a number of things, including heavy use of your yard. When soil compacts, your grass cannot breathe or find much needed nutrients due to the compaction “suffocating” your lawn’s roots.
Core aeration loosens the hard compacted clay soils we have here in Virginia, especially easily compacted soils from new construction. What core aeration does, it pokes thousands of holes into your lawn to allow oxygen, nutrients and water to penetrate deeper down into the soil to help with root growth for the grass above. Stronger roots = Stronger grass.
After Core aeration, overseeding follows... A premium blend of fescue grass seed is spread over the entire turf area to help thicken the yard - approximately 4/lbs per thousand square feet.
A lush, green lawn is the result of nutrient rich soil with few weeds. After Core aeration, we combine proven practices for seeding so you can enjoy a healthy lawn that is beautiful to look at.
Seeding builds the density of your turf, and improves your lawn’s health as well as appearance. Our seeding treatment cultivates the soil creating good seed to soil contact. Why is this important? A dense lawn is the optimal way to defend naturally against insects and weeds. An aging lawn can become unhealthy and thin when grass plants become weak and die off.
Aside from better air intake, some other benefits of core aeration and seeding include:
